About Hayem Synagogue
It was the first synagogue that was built in the year 1913 (Hebrew 5674) outside of Odlajan neighborhood, which was the main center of Jewish settlement, by Mr. Ishaq Sedek and Ishaq Moradaf, in one of the side streets of Si Tir Street (former Qawam al-Sultaneh), Kuche Simi.
This synagogue is the first synagogue outside Odlajan neighborhood. Before that, the followers of Judaism mostly had synagogues in the area of Jewish neighborhoods, i.e. Odlajan neighborhood. Older synagogues are mostly found on Syros Street, dating back to 200 years ago. Hayim Synagogue is the result of the constitutional changes during which the Jews had a lawyer in the parliament. Hayim Synagogue is more than a century old. Later, Jewish community houses were gradually built around this synagogue.
